As a professional painting contractor, we love painting in neighbourhoods like Mimico Village. Older established neighbourhoods like this have a wide variety of homes and community centers.
From south of the Gardiner Expressway to Lake Ontario, and between the Humber River and Dwight Avenue, lies the what remains of the village of Mimico. This is Toronto’s historic west-end waterfront community. Mimico is known for its picturesque lakefront parks and its many recreational facilities including Mimico Arena, Mimico Tennis Club, and the Lakeshore Lawn Bowling Club.
Mainly residential, Mimico is considered Etobicoke’s bedroom community. To get in and out of Mimico, buses run along Evans and Royal York connecting to the subway and streetcars, and there is the Mimico GO Station at the centre of Mimico Village.
Mimico got its name from the large number of passenger pigeons (now extinct) that were found in this community. ‘Mimico’ comes from the native Mississauga word omiimiikaa, which means “abundant with wild pigeons.”
We can help you pay homage to Mimico’s identity and paint your home Pigeon Grey (Benjamin Moore). This colour would be perfect for painting exteriors, including brick or shutters and could also suit interior spaces such as dining rooms and bathrooms.
There are a wide range of homes including lakeside estates, bungalows, low rise apartment buildings and condominium high-rise tower developments. Mimico also has two main commercial strips, one along Lake Shore Boulevard West and the other along Royal York Road. Both feature small locally owned stores and a bevy of Eastern European delicatessens, not to mention two of Ontario’s premier local breweries.
There is a lot of home market activity in Mimico too! Whether you’re looking to sell or you’re a new homeowner, Home Painters Toronto can help. Painting is a great way to add value to your home, and it’s also the most cost-effective way to renovate. With the Mimico 20/20 Action Plan there have been several endeavours put in place to revitalize the neighbourhood, including the new GO Mimico condo development on the site of the historic Mimico train station. Why not do some repainting of your Mimico home?
