The “Do What You Can” Program is a Toronto initiative that allows residents to bring their leftover paint to local depots like Home Depot or RONA.
There are two ways you can go about this:

2) Request for someone from the city to come to pick it up from you (this option offers free shipping).
The program is open year-round and accepts any type of paint. Including latex, oil-based, and epoxy paints.
Method 3: Latex Paint Disposal
Latex Paint is generally safe for the environment.
This makes it a little easier to dispose of, but you still need to be careful while doing it.
• NEVER pour the paint down your drains. This can be very harmful to your drains and cause rusting and is also illegal.
• To dispose of the paint, grab a plastic bucket and fill it with kitty litter or wood chips.
• Pour the paint into the bucket.
• Allow to dry, dispose of as if you would with normal trash.
Method 4: Oil Paint – Local Drop-off Depots
If you have oil-based paints, there are many drop-off depots around the world that will take them for safe disposal.
These are usually run by local councils or waste companies and can be found on their websites.
Check with your local government to find out where it is located. If you don’t know where it is, look online and search specific terms like ‘where to dispose of paint cans near me’ or ‘hazardous waste disposal in Toronto‘.
If you can’t find a drop-off point in your area, take the paint to your local recycling center. They will be able to safely dispose of it for you.
They may also have other hazardous waste that they can take, so it’s always worth checking with them first before going anywhere else.
