Cleaning for coronavirus

Torontonians and citizens over the world are facing uncertain times fighting an invisible threat, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Apart from social distancing, there are other actions you can take to protect your home and business, the most basic of all, is cleaning and disinfecting.

For that reason, HPT, your trusted service company for over 30 years and 15,000+ satisfied customers, is offering cleaning sanitizing services in Toronto and the GTA for residential and commercial spaces. To meet our clients needs, a freshly painted home should also have the option to be cleaned and disinfected at once. For this reason, we are here to serve and take care of you!

coronavirus spread

What we know about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19):

-It does spread from person to person, commonly among close contacts (within about 6 feet)
-The virus lives longer on plastic and steel, up to 72 hours, three days, it can live 24 on cardboard. Source.

How we want to clean and disinfect your home:

First, you need to know; cleaning and disinfecting are not synonyms:

Physically removing dirt, germs and impurities from surfaces. Note that germs will remain alive.

This is when we use chemicals to kill the germs that live on surfaces.

Both actions combined can substantially lower the risks of spreading the coronavirus (COVID-19) or other viruses.

What should you keep clean, and how often should you do it to protect yourself from unwanted germs?

  • Surfaces often touched, such as tables, nightstands, doorknobs, light switches, electronics, handles, toilets, appliances, toys, faucets, keyboards, etc.
  • Clean daily. Practice routine cleaning for the rest of the surfaces.

Type of chemicals recommended to eliminate viruses:

  • Household cleaners EPA-registered. Always follow the labels, use gloves and make sure you have good ventilation.

Always wash your hands before and after cleaning.

You can use se 60% + alcohol or hand sanitizer after.

Lunder clothes, rugs and other home linens often, using the warmest appropriate water. Dry completely.

Dispose of trash often.

Important information when you hire our cleaning and disinfection services

According to the Federal Government, Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold, to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV), and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). The Federal Government is responding to an outbreak of respiratory disease caused by a novel (new) coronavirus that has been named “SARS-CoV-2,” and the disease it causes has been named “coronavirus disease 2019” (abbreviated “COVID-19”).

Currently there are no disinfectants that have been tested specifically for this particular emerging viral pathogen. The CDC is recommending a labelled Hospital Grade disinfectant with claims against similar type organisms to SARS-CoV-2. The disinfectants the workers will use meet this criterion. Product information can be found in Technical Data and Safety Data Sheets, available upon request.

As part of their cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting, workers will clean a variety surfaces with special attention paid to frequently touched surfaces, such as doorknobs, light switches, countertops, keyboards and desks. They will use industry-standard protocols; non-porous surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected, porous surfaces will be cleaned. A specific scope of work will be communicated to you before the start of work.

While we believe this protocol is effective to clean and disinfect, we cannot provide assurances that all pathogens will be eliminated. Of course, any area may be infected later if exposed to someone who is contagious with any pathogen. It is important that you continue to follow the Federal Government’s recommendations found on their website’s link: For example, it is important that you continue to perform routine environmental cleaning. This includes routinely cleaning with effective and approved cleaning agents. Use all cleaning products according to the directions on the label. In addition, provide disinfectant wipes so that commonly used surfaces can be cleaned before each use.
