Davenport is a quiet neighbourhood located Northwest of downtown Toronto. Its boundaries include Davenport Road on North Bathurst Street, which forms the eastern boundary, while Lansdowne Avenue, the western. The Canadian Pacific Railway tracks, and Dupont bounds it to the south.
The railway line in the Davenport area was one of the factors that contributed to its early industrialization, with several factories and small plants built along the tracks. Residential areas that served the working population of Italian Canadians were mainly located to the North.
The area used to be dominated by Portuguese and Italian residents. However, the situation is changing after most of the factories moved out. The Davenport area has been and is still undergoing gentrification with new developments. Townhouses are replacing factories and warehouses, and several other communities have settled in the area.
