Home Painters Toronto is excited to celebrate the ending of another great year in 2013. However, it’s not completely finished yet.
Just to recap, with the unexpected warmth that the fall gave us into mid Oct, we had a lot more time to do exterior home renovation projects. Of course, all good things must come to an end. With the cold winter months settling in now, people have taken to settling into their own homes as well. But that doesn’t mean that you have to stop your home improvement projects! It’s time to take the painting inside home and for you to start enjoying your home interior.
Here were the top painting trends in 2013 and Beyond:
1) Painting Accent Walls:
One of our top requests for interior decoration during the 2013 were “accent walls.” If you don’t know, an accent wall is one wall in a room that is painted/wallpapered differently than all of the other walls. In most cases it’s a drastic and bold change to draw attention to that wall. This adds a layer of contrast to your room, and generally makes it more interesting and exciting. If you’re looking for a way to spice up your rooms, this is definitely something you should consider. Its cost effective and brings life to the room. See our blog on accent walls.
2) Stucco Removal and Ceiling flattening
Another specialty that we work with is removing stucco and flattening the ceilings of rooms. There are a number of reasons for doing this; when the stucco is removed from your ceiling, it can actually give the illusion of your room being bigger. This is because a flat ceiling looks a lot cleaner and smoother, reducing the “clutter” that is stucco. It is also cleaner and more modern. See our blog and video on how to flatten a stucco ceiling.
3) Wallpaper Removal
Maybe you’re looking to bring new life into an older home. Along with the age of the home, you get old wallpaper. Now, over the course of a few decades, wallpaper becomes harder and harder to remove completely. And even worse, over time it becomes boring and outdated with the change in fashion trends. We at Home Painters Toronto are able to come into your home and completely remove old wallpaper from your walls in a quick, efficient, and cost-saving manner. Now you don’t have to deal with the hassle of removing the wallpaper yourself, or, worst case scenario, painting over the wallpaper without removing it. See our blog and video on how to remove wallpaper. If you have trouble removing it, we also have a blog on how to paint on top of wallpaper when necessary as well.
4) Painting on Top of Gumwood and Stained Wood
This was one of our biggest requests in 2013 on really old homes with a lot of wainscoting and stained wood. Although this is a classic look, its really old and outdated. In 2014, I see homeowners needing a more clean, sleek, and modern look. The easy and cost effective way to do this is to paint out their wainscoting and old stained wood. See our blog on How to Paint on Gumwood and Stained Wood and see what is possible!
5) Painting on Top of Fireplaces and Brick Walls
Again, homeowners are seeking a more clean and modern look. They are getting tired of the old, rustic, and classic appearance. By painting your brick and fireplace, you are immediately bringing your room and area up to date giving it a cleaner, zen appearance. It not only makes the area look more modern and up to date, but it is also more hygienic making the area easier to keep clean.
At Home Painters Toronto, we can do all of this and so much more for you during this winter season. We understand that not everybody has the time or patience to get these jobs done themselves, so why not give us a call to get all of this done for you while you can sit back and enjoy?
