Colour Palette Ideas to Bring Style to a Small Kitchen
Just because you have a small kitchen doesn’t mean you can’t have a stylish one. And one common misconception people have about small kitchens is that you should only stick with one colour when painting your kitchen cabinets to make it feel less cramped.
But in reality, having some bursts of colour in your kitchen can help bring more life into it. All you need to do is pick the right colour scheme and know how to properly distribute the colours. Luckily, we’ve made some sample colour palettes to help make kitchen cabinet painting easier for you.
Black, White, and an Accent Colour
Is there even a more iconic colour duo than black and white? Probably not because these two colours compliment each other so well that the combination just remains timeless. But do you know what can make this iconic pairing even better? Having a splash of colour thrown into the mix.
When you plan on having a predominantly black and white kitchen, it can be a good idea to have an accent colour scattered around. You can choose any colour you want. Just make sure it doesn’t overpower the black and white aesthetic. You can have it in small amounts, such as in your trims or some of your fixtures.
White, Off-White, and Natural Wood Finish
Kitchen designs don’t have to be bold to look so good. And that’s the entire point of the white, off-white, and natural wood palette.
This combination of light colours makes your kitchen look clean and elegant without making it so dull. It can also help open up the space, as it creates the illusion of a larger room.
Navy Blue, Leather Brown, and Bright White
People tend to avoid darker colours when it comes to smaller spaces. But we beg to differ. You can still have some saturated hues in your kitchen. The key is to use them strategically.
When you’re using a deep colour, such as navy blue, you’d want to use them in your small space sparingly. You should then add some bright white into the mix for more contrast. And for a classy finish, you can use brown leather in your kitchen furniture to give it some warmth and texture.
Slate Blue, Copper, and Stainless Steel
When designing your kitchen, you also have to consider the appliances you intend to buy. Normally, we’d suggest getting appliances in the same type of metal to create a uniform look. But you can also try mixing and matching metallic hues to give your kitchen a more modern vibe.
In particular, why not pair come steely gray appliances with some copper fixtures? Copper and stainless steel work so great together because of the juxtaposition of the cool and warm tones of each metal. And to add some colour into the mix, pair it with some slate blue walls and cabinets.
